One Yukon began as a focused effort by the Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) during the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing together First Nation communities, municipalities, and health leaders to address urgent public health needs through collaboration and dialogue.

Research Associate or Clinical Research Asscoaite

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

Time Commitment: 37.5 hours/week

About One Yukon Coalition:

One Yukon Coalition (OYC) is a not-for-profit, charitable research organization forged from a holistic, partnership-driven approach to advancing community health and wellness priorities in the Yukon. OYC collaborates with communities, municipalities, and all levels of government to foster awareness and readiness for both current and future public health emergencies, and to deliver programs and services that support community health and wellness priorities. With support from the Yukon Strategy for Patient Oriented Research (YSPOR), One Yukon Coalition is hiring a Research Associate to contribute to patient-oriented health research focused on health data integration, public health intelligence, health outcomes, and evidence-informed decision-making in Yukon communities.

Position Overview

The Research Associate will support community-based and patient-oriented health research initiatives that improve understanding of population health needs, health service utilization, and health outcomes across Yukon communities. Working with the One Yukon Coalition and its research partners, the successful candidate will contribute to projects focused on health data integration, public health intelligence, emerging technologies, and the development of evidence that supports patient-centred decision-making.

The position provides an opportunity for an early-career researcher to gain experience in applied health research, health data analysis, knowledge translation, and collaborative research involving health system, community, and academic partners.

Key Responsibilities

Health Research and Evidence Generation

● Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans to support ongoing health research projects.

● Assist in the collection, management, quality assurance, and analysis of health-related data.

● Support the development of research reports, briefing notes, presentations, and scientific summaries.

● Contribute to the interpretation and communication of research findings for diverse audiences.

Health Data and Analytics

● Support projects involving the integration and analysis of multiple health data sources.

● Assist with the development of indicators, dashboards, and reporting tools that support health system planning and evaluation.

● Contribute to analyses exploring health trends, service utilization, and population health outcomes.

● Support the evaluation of innovative approaches to health monitoring and public health intelligence.

Patient-Oriented and Community-Based Research

● Assist with projects that incorporate patient, community, and partner perspectives into health research and evaluation.

● Support engagement activities that strengthen collaboration between researchers, communities, and health system partners.

● Contribute to the development of knowledge translation products that improve accessibility and use of research findings.

Research Capacity Building

● Participate in training and mentorship opportunities related to health research methods, epidemiology, data analytics, and evaluation.

● Support collaborative research initiatives involving academic, government, health system, and community partners.

Qualifications

Required

● Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline, including Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related field.

● Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

● Demonstrated interest in health research and improving health outcomes.

● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Assets

● Basic experience with coding or data analysis software such as R, Python, SQL, Excel, or similar tools.

● Experience preparing reports, presentations, or scientific communications.
